Overview
Warun ("we", "the site") is a static, informational website showing live rock-climbing conditions. It has no user accounts, no forms, and no login — we don't collect any personal data directly through the site itself. This page explains the small amount of data third-party services process on our behalf when you visit.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they use, so we can improve it. This is optional: the Google Analytics script only loads after you click "Accept" on the cookie banner. If you click "Decline", or simply ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time via the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer.
When enabled, Google Analytics may set cookies such as _ga and
_ga_<container-id> and process:
- Pages viewed and time spent on the site
- Approximate, city-level location derived from IP address (Google truncates/anonymizes the full IP)
- Device, browser, and general technical information
- Referring site (how you arrived at Warun)
This data is processed by Google under Google's own privacy terms. See Google's Privacy Policy and Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on if you'd like to opt out more broadly across sites. Data is retained according to our Google Analytics property settings (currently the GA4 default retention period of 14 months).
Hosting
This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Loading any page means your browser makes a request to GitHub's servers, which — like most web hosts — may log standard technical information (e.g. IP address, request time) for security and operational purposes. This is governed by GitHub's Privacy Statement, not by us.
Weather data
Climbing condition scores are computed from weather data fetched server-side (via a scheduled job) from Open-Meteo. This is a one-way fetch of public weather data and does not involve any of your personal information.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
